An absolute one of a kind extraordinary mesquite waterfall desk, 70 x 31 x 30, built for a client in Northern California. I started with 9' slabs of mesquite and poured an 8'6" x 38" dual stream table with cobalt epoxy, and then trimmed a 30" waterfall leg off one end so the streams and wood grain poured flawlessly over, and trimmed the table to formal dimensions. Matte finished with mineral oil and beeswax. I added a partial facing to the front of the desk with live edge bottom to it, and the desk is supported on the right side by a pair of 3 x 1/4" matte black steel flat bar legs I fabricated. As the third densest native hardwood in the United States behind live oak and osage orange, with an unbelievable richness of grain, mesquite is the ideal choice for a showpiece beyond compare. Because it is a gnarled, crooked tree of the desert Southwest, it is hard to find single slabs that grow straight enough over 9' to pull off a waterfall project of this size. I poured my heart and soul into this project and am as thrilled with the results as my client was.
